Job summary

DWP Digital in Leeds is hiring a DevOps leader to shape modern cloud platforms, guide cross‑disciplinary engineering teams and drive secure, scalable AWS‑based solutions. You’ll champion automation, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code while delivering reliable digital public services.

This hybrid role offers flexible hours, pay up to £80,664 and a generous civil service pension. You’ll mentor engineers, promote engineering best practices and help define DevOps across DWP’s transformation,

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience of developing and supporting AWS cloud-based applications.
• Demonstrable knowledge of writing and maintaining Infrastructure, and Configuration as Code.
• Demonstrable experience of using Unix/Linux in a support and/or development environment including scripting languages.
• Demonstrable experience of working in a DevOps environment - Continuous Integration & Deployment, Delivery methods and techniques, including agile scrum experience.
• Demonstrable knowledge of implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience of supporting, guiding, and developing Engineers across multi-disciplinary teams in an agile environment.

Responsibilities

• In this role, you and your teams will help shape and support modern cloud platforms by designing, building and improving secure, scalable and resilient AWS solutions.
• Working closely with engineering teams, you'll drive automation, enhance CI/CD pipelines and use Infrastructure as Code to enable the delivery of reliable digital services.
• You’ll tackle complex technical challenges, champion engineering best practices and support a culture of ownership, continuous improvement and operational excellence, while mentoring other engineers and helping evolve our DevOps capabilities.
