Job summary

RWS Group is seeking a Senior DevOps contractor to own Phase 1 AWS pipeline delivery and establish engineering patterns across the platform. You will design Terraform/Ansible handoffs, implement a GitOps flow with GitHub Actions, and mentor the internal DevOps engineer to enable long-term ownership.

Qualifications

Hands-on IaC with Terraform and Ansible
Proven experience building end-to-end provisioning pipelines
Experience with AWS or equivalent hyperscaler and cloud networking

Responsibilities

Lead AWS pipeline end-to-end: repo scaffolding, Terraform module, Ansible config, remote state, validation, provisioning flow
Own Terraform/Ansible design; ensure VM state is declarative and reproducible
Build GitHub Actions GitOps flow with OIDC, keyless AWS auth, least-privilege IAM
Implement full lifecycle: TTL expiry, decommissioning, PR-based resize, snapshot/restore
Expose pipeline as a Backstage Software Template with JSON schema/docs
Mentor DevOps engineer; enable knowledge transfer for ongoing ownership
Coordinate with Networking, Identity, Security, Operations to unblock delivery
