Job summary

Wokingham Borough Council is seeking a dynamic Senior Development & Construction Project Manager to lead complex capital schemes from feasibility to post-completion. This full-time, permanent role sits in the Commercial Property Team and requires strategic oversight and robust governance.

You will line-manage three Development Project Managers, collaborate with internal services and external partners, and drive value-for-money delivery of high-value projects while upholding procurement rules.

Qualifications

• Degree-level or equivalent construction qualifications.
• Evidence of continuous professional development.
• Strong project management experience in private or public sectors.
• Good IT skills including M365, SharePoint, Teams, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience delivering complex capital programmes and construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of the Council's complex capital programme projects.
• Provide line management to three Development Project Managers.
• Oversee external consultants and contractors for planning and development.
• Ensure value for money and robust business cases.
• Conduct risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
• Monitor project progress and report to senior management.
• Engage with planning authorities, stakeholders, funders and tenants.
