Job summary

Shopify is seeking a highly skilled Developer Support specialist to assist merchants, partners, and developers with front-end and back-end issues. You will collaborate with multiple internal teams to resolve bugs, enhance product offerings, and mentor teammates.

Expect an emphasis on enterprise merchants and strategic problem-solving. Ideal candidates have deep experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, REST/GraphQL, and server-side languages (Ruby/Python/Node.js).

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of front-end tech: JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React, and TypeScript.
• Extensive experience with REST and GraphQL APIs, and API clients like Postman/Insomnia.
• Server-side development using Ruby, Python, PHP, or Node.js; OO, MVC, Git.
• Experience with Observe, SQL databases, and Chrome DevTools; troubleshoot and test.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for internal and external audiences.
• Adaptable, resilient, and comfortable with change.
• Curious, resourceful, and focused on merchant experiences.
• Strong multi-tasking and empathy for users on supported channels.
• Problem-solving and methodical debugging, open to feedback.
• Experience building maintainable code and standards within a team.

Responsibilities

• Offer support directly to merchants, partners, and developers on front-end and back-end issues with speed and quality.
• Contribute to internal real-time support via Slack.
• Identify root causes to improve troubleshooting.
• Provide coaching and mentorship to team.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve bugs and improve products.
• Advocate for Enterprise merchants, prioritizing their needs.
• Design and build products and solutions within your expertise.
• Assist in strategy development using your technical insight.
