Job summary
Ministry of Justice in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Developer to join the HMPPS team within Justice Digital, Data and Science on a permanent basis. You will design, build and maintain secure APIs and services, modernise legacy tools, and mentor other developers in a multidisciplinary, hybrid setting.
The role focuses on delivering digital services for Probation staff, managing identity data securely, and improving process automation.
Qualifications
- Experience delivering large and complex software solutions.
- Experience working in Java, Kotlin, TypeScript or JavaScript.
- Ability to design, build and maintain secure APIs and services.
- Comfort mentoring developers in a multidisciplinary, hybrid setting.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain secure APIs, services and systems.
- Modernise legacy systems used by frontline staff.
- Build digital services for Probation staff to support rehabilitation and court cases.
- Design services that manage identity data safely across prisons and probation.
- Improve prisoner visit scheduling and management.
- Automate manual processes to reduce admin time.
- Improve resilience and maintainability of software.
- Coach, mentor and line manage other developers.
- Share knowledge and contribute to communities of practice across MoJ.
