Job summary

University of the Arts London (UAL) seeks a Senior Developer for the Digital Services Group to deliver new digital functionality and support across student information, booking services, the main site, and portfolios using PHP, JavaScript, HTML5 and related tech.

You will work with core CMS systems, collaborate with development teams, design foundational systems to modernise the tech stack, and contribute in an Agile environment with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience of developing websites and web applications using PHP8+, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, AJAX/JSON.
• Good working understanding of CMS and frameworks such as Drupal, WordPress, Craft and Laravel.
• Proficiency and application of WCAG2.2 accessibility guidance.
• Knowledge of microservices, APIs (build and integration) and cloud services (AWS).
• Strong stakeholder management experience, along with high level inter-personal and communication skills.
• Experience working as a member of a development team, providing support, mentoring and cover where needed.
• Experience of Agile and Scrum, as well as other software and product development and delivery methodologies.

This is an exciting opening for a Senior Developer within the Digital Services Group at University of the Arts London. Focused on delivering new digital functionality and web development support for UAL’s digital products, which include student information and booking services, the main university website, student portfolio and showcase platforms, using PHP, JavaScript, HTML and related technologies.

You will work with UAL’s core content management systems, collaborating with development teams in Digital & Technology, to produce new functionality and services across a range of exciting digital products.

You will be instrumental in designing and building foundational systems to reduce and realign our tech stack and help modernise ways of working. You will also get the opportunity to play a key role in projects, working with key stakeholders to identify requirements for new applications, working in an Agile environment.

Experience
