Job summary

Murphy is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead design delivery for major UK HV substation projects and to oversee design management across tender, FEED and detailed design stages.

You will integrate multiple engineering disciplines, coordinate with internal and external designers, and ensure CDM 2015 compliance while driving continual process improvements within the business unit.

Qualifications

• Experience managing multi-disciplinary design packages.
• Experience carrying out the role of Principal Designer Representative under CDM 2015.
• Experience delivering substation projects for UK Transmission Service Operators is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering design delivery of major Transmission HV 132/275/400kV Substation projects.
• Lead Design Management requirements at tender and Early Contractor Engagement stages.
• Integrate HV Plant, Protection & Control and Civils design across internal and external teams.
• Act as Principal Design Representative ensuring design information is managed to CDM 2015 standards.
• Contribute to continual Design Management process improvements within the Business Unit.
• Review design packs for technical compliance, quality and completeness.
• Monitor procurement-related design issues with the Procurement function.
• Coordinate with Temporary Works Designers to ensure constructability and permanent works are addressed.
• Ensure compliance with Standards and Client requirements, monitoring design to those standards.
• Understand and influence contracts with design consultants, including fees, services, schedules, and warranties.
• Review and comment on consultant payment applications for processing.
