Job summary

Main Contractor in Essex is seeking a Design Manager to join the team on permanent projects across the Education, Commercial, Defence, and Science sectors. The role focuses on early feasibility and pre-construction work, with involvement in on-site design coordination and managing external consultants.

The successful candidate will have extensive design management experience, knowledge of construction methodologies, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• HNC or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture.
• 5+ years experience with a Main Contractor.
• Experience on Education sector projects.
• Knowledge of design and build contracts would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for technical compliance and design management at early feasibility and procurement stages.
• Monitor on-site design coordination and manage external consultants.
• Support pre-construction processes and project delivery.
