Job summary

Morson Edge is recruiting a Senior Design Manager to lead pre-construction and on-site design delivery for DfE school projects across Yorkshire and the North Midlands, split between Derbyshire head office and Leeds regional office.

You'll drive design compliance, lead BIM and CDM processes, manage design teams and specialist subcontractors, and ensure programmes align with the CF21 requirements and project budgets. The role requires collaboration with clients, consultants and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

• Proven track record on DfE school replacement projects in pre-construction and on-site.
• Strong knowledge of the DfE CF21 Employer's Requirements and processes.
• Experience managing specialist designing subcontractors.
• Sound understanding of design obligations and CDM.
• Understanding of cost control, detailed design, programme and contractual requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design team through pre-construction and construction, ensuring designs comply with the DfE Employer's Requirements and the contractor's school solution.
• Act as Building Regulations Principal Designer and coordinate designs and designers.
• Lead design reviews, option analysis and value engineering.
• Contribute to PITT, ITT and contractor's proposal submissions.
• Run RFI, change and document control processes, and feed into the design programme with the planner
• Be the point of contact on design for the client, consultants, designing subcontractors and statutory bodies.
