Senior Design Manager – Data Centre Construction

Job summary

3D Personnel Ltd are recruiting on behalf of an established international main contractor delivering major data centre and mission-critical construction projects across the UK and Europe. Based in Blyth, Northumberland, this role leads the in-house design team and external consultants to deliver coordinated CSA and MEP packages.

The successful candidate will manage design deliverables, risk, and LEED sustainability obligations, while liaising with construction managers to keep interfaces

Qualifications

• Eight plus years of experience delivering design on major construction projects.
• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
• Strong experience coordinating multidisciplinary CSA and MEP design.
• Excellent understanding of construction documentation, design risk and technical compliance.
• Confident in managing design consultants, subcontractors and internal teams.
• Experience with data centre or similarly complex projects is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage the in-house design team and external engineering and architectural consultants.
• Coordinate CSA and MEP design packages throughout the construction programme.
• Oversee technical submittals, RFIs, IFC drawings and design deliverables.
• Maintain the design risk register and ensure compliance with Safety in Design requirements.
• Coordinate OFCI vendor information and integration into the wider design.
• Support LEED requirements and sustainability-related design obligations.
• Liaise with temporary works teams and construction managers to resolve design interfaces.
• Manage design coordination meetings and resolve issues to programme.
