Long O'Donnell is seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to lead multidisciplinary engineering design teams delivering major water and wastewater infrastructure programmes across the UK. The role focuses on strategic leadership, mentoring Design Managers and ensuring designs meet programme, cost, quality and safety targets.

We require Chartered Engineer status and 10+ years of post-graduate experience within the water industry or closely related sectors.

Qualificações

• Extensive post-graduate experience (10+ years) in water or related engineering sectors.
• Proven ability to lead Design Managers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Track record delivering complex projects to time, cost and quality constraints.
• Experience with UK water industry AMP delivery cycles is advantageous.

Long O'Donnell is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Design Manager to join our growing engineering and infrastructure consultancy, supporting the delivery of major water and wastewater infrastructure programmes across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for an established engineering professional to take a leadership role in managing multidisciplinary design teams, overseeing complex engineering projects and supporting the successful delivery of major capital investment programmes, including AMP frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of multidisciplinary engineering design teams across multiple projects and programmes.
• Lead, manage and mentor Design Managers, promoting technical excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Oversee the delivery of engineering designs to agreed programme, cost, quality and safety requirements.
• Coordinate design activities across civil, mechanical, electrical, process and ICA disciplines.
• Manage design risks, technical interfaces, resource allocation and programme deliverables.
• Work collaboratively with clients, contractors and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Drive design efficiencies, innovation, standardisation and value engineering across major water infrastructure programmes.

About You

We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:

• Chartered Engineering professional (CEng) or equivalent recognised professional qualification.
• Typically 10+ years' postgraduate experience within the water industry or a closely related engineering sector.
• A proven track record of managing Design Managers and leading, motivating and inspiring multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Demonstrable experience delivering multiple complex engineering projects to agreed time, cost and quality parameters.
• Strong experience working within large capital investment programmes, ideally within the UK water industry's AMP delivery cycles.
• Excellent technical leadership, stakeholder management, communication and commercial awareness.
• Experience working with UK water companies, delivery partners or major infrastructure frameworks would be advantageous.
