Job description

We're looking for a Senior Design Manager to join our Natural Resources team, working from home and the Falmer office, East Sussex, on a new 7-year, c£1bn framework with Southern Water.

Location: Agile working from home and the Falmer office, East Sussex

Contract: Permanent, Full Time – flexible and part-time hours may be available, just let us know

Responsibilities

As a Senior Design Manager in our NRNN business unit, you'll work on Water and Wastewater capital projects across the Southern Water region. Your role will involve leading and managing engineering design delivery for assigned projects, and optimizing the engineering assurance process for designs prepared by partners at outline design, tender, and construction stages.

Your daily tasks will include:

• Developing strategies considering various alternatives to find the best solution.
• Engaging with clients to ensure full understanding of the design solution and offering asset management-based solutions.
• Acting as the main point of contact with design consultants at the director level to ensure technical performance.
• Leading and managing engineering design delivery for projects.
• Providing expert engineering support throughout the project lifecycle, from definition to handover.

What are we looking for?

This role is ideal if you have:

• Chartered Engineer status with a degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
• Proven experience in engineering design, construction, and management.
• Experience managing multi-disciplinary technical teams and achieving performance targets.
• Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes.
• Experience with quality procedures and document control in engineering design.
