About the Senior Design Manager Opportunity:

PSR Solutions are working closely with a leading Tier 1 Main Contractor, recruiting for an experienced Senior Design Manager. This is a flagship opportunity to take the Design lead on a £50m+ project in the West Midlands, playing a pivotal role throughout the Pre-Construction and Delivery phases.

As the Senior Design Manager, you will be the driving force behind all design coordination, leading multi-disciplinary design teams, managing consultant relationships, and ensuring innovative, compliant, and buildable design solutions are achieved from pre-construction through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the design process on a high-value (£50m+) project, acting as the primary interface between client, consultants, and project teams
• Provide leadership, guidance, and technical expertise to internal and external design teams
• Ensure design solutions are fully coordinated, compliant, and aligned with project programme and budget
• Manage and challenge consultants to deliver efficient and buildable solutions, driving value engineering where appropriateOversee design risks and opportunities, reporting to senior stakeholders on progress and potential impactsCollaborate closely with commercial, planning, and operational teams to ensure design is delivered to the highest standardLead design workshops and presentations with clients and stakeholders, fostering strong relationshipsChampion innovation, sustainability, and digital design practices within the project team

  Skills and Experience:

  • Proven track record as a Design Manager or Senior Design Manager with a Tier 1 Main Contractor
  • Experience leading the design process on large-scale projects (£30m+)
  • Strong technical understanding across multiple disciplines
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and client-facing skills
  • Ability to manage consultants, stakeholders, and internal teams under pressure of deadlines
  • Thorough knowledge of design management processes and best practices within construction
  • Previous experience on major projects in sectors such as commercial, healthcare, education, or mixed-use developments highly desirable
