Job summary

United Infrastructure Water Limited is seeking a Principal Design Lead to provide senior technical leadership across multiple high-rise residential schemes. You will bridge strategic oversight with project-level design management, mentoring Senior Design Managers while remaining hands-on on complex projects.

You will lead bid-stage technical input, drive compliant design and risk mitigation, and coordinate with Commercial, Operations and Bid teams to ensure cost-effective, buildable solutions.

Qualifications

• Proven senior design management experience across multiple schemes.
• Experience mentoring Design Managers and leading teams.
• Experience with bid-stage technical submissions and value engineering.
• Strong understanding of building regulations, safety standards and compliance.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management across levels.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership across multiple projects, delivering compliant, buildable design solutions.
• Act as the escalation point for technical/design issues, driving timely resolution and risk mitigation.
• Lead and coordinate bid-stage technical input, including risk identification and value engineering opportunities.
• Support Head of Technical to ensure consistency of design management practices across projects.
• Mentor Senior Design Managers and Design Managers, providing guidance and technical support.
• Review design information for compliance with legislation, standards, and client requirements.
• Coordinate with Commercial, Operations and Bid teams to align design solutions with delivery strategies.
• Oversee design change control processes and approvals across schemes.
• Conduct site visits to support project teams and resolve technical issues.
