Job summary

Tilbury Douglas is seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to join the Building team on projects across the North East. You will provide strategic design leadership from bid through to construction, coordinating with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to deliver safe, compliant, and value-driven designs.

You will champion best practice in design management, develop design capability across teams, and play a key role in securing major healthcare, education and commercial projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in construction-related discipline or equivalent experience.
• CIOB membership advantageous.
• CSCS card and driving licence required.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams on complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior design leadership across multiple projects (£2m–£40m) from bid stage to completion.
• Lead development and implementation of design strategies ensuring buildability and compliance with programme and client objectives.
• Drive design governance, risk management and value engineering to improve quality and sustainability.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants and key stakeholders; lead design workshops and resolve complex technical challenges.
• Support business growth through bid and pre-construction activities and high-quality proposals.
