Job summary

Tilbury Douglas is recruiting a Senior Design Manager to lead the design function on complex construction projects across the East Midlands, from tender to completion. The role is based in Northampton and covers projects ranging £2m-£60m, delivering operating and maintenance manuals.

You will provide strategic design leadership across a portfolio, influencing bid strategy through delivery with clients, consultants and internal teams to achieve design excellence, safety and value.

Qualifications

• A degree or HNC in a construction-related discipline, or equivalent technical experience.
• Professional CIOB membership is advantageous.
• Valid CSCS card and driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior design leadership across multiple projects and framework opportunities (£2m-£40m).
• Lead development and implementation of design strategies aligned with programme and client objectives.
• Drive design governance, risk management and value engineering for quality and sustainability.
• Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and stakeholders; lead design workshops.
• Support bid/pre-construction activities and develop high-quality proposals.
