Job summary

Hernshead Recruitment is seeking a Gas Turbine Design Engineer for an onsite role in the Midlands. You will drive mechanical design from concept to production on live turbine programmes, with hands-on involvement in both rotating and static components.

The role requires 5+ years in gas turbine design, a solid grasp of materials and processes, and the ability to deliver detailed CAD drawings and manufacturing supports while coordinating with production and ensuring design for manufacture.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of gas turbine mechanical design experience.
• Knowledge of gas turbine materials, processes and practices.
• Experience taking parts from concept through to production.

We're working with a growing aerospace manufacturer to hire a Gas Turbine Design Engineer who are expanding their engineering team.

This is a hands-on mechanical design role on live gas turbine programmes. You'll take parts from concept through to production.

The Role:

• - Mechanical design and detailing of rotating and static gas turbine components
• - Designing cast, fabricated and machined parts and assemblies
• - Engine externals and dressing schemes
• - Tolerance stacks, critical fits and clearances
• - 3D CAD modelling and detailed manufacturing drawings
• - Working closely with production on design for manufacture
• - Managing design and airworthiness requirements

Requirements:

• - BSc/BEng in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or HNC/HND with relevant experience)
• - 5+ years of gas turbine mechanical design experience
• - Knowledge of gas turbine materials, processes and practices

Working pattern:

This role is fully onsite. You'll be working directly alongside the design and production teams, so you'll need to live within commuting distance of the Midlands or be willing to relocate.
