Job summary

BioTalent is seeking a Senior Design Engineer for a leading biotechnology company in Nottinghamshire. The role is full-time and permanent, reporting to the Director of Design Engineering in the US.

You will translate customer requirements into manufacturable drawings and create solid 3D models using SolidWorks. The candidate should have a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or Bioengineering, 10+ years in regulated environments, and strong GD&T and PLM/ERP experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related discipline.
• 10+ years' experience in design engineering or drafting in regulated manufacturing.
• Advanced SolidWorks experience, including part modelling, assemblies, and technical drawing creation.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering drawing standards (ASME/ISO).
• Experience working with BOMs, engineering change processes, and PLM/ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Translate customer requirements into clear, accurate, and manufacturable engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Create and maintain 2D/3D CAD models and assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Act as a key interface between customers, sales, and manufacturing teams to ensure design requirements are understood and executed.
• Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) activities and drive improvements in drawing quality, standardisation, and engineering processes.
• Manage Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering change requests, and documentation within PLM/ERP systems.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and manufacturing.
