elix Sourcing Solutions in Princes Risborough, England, is seeking a Design Engineer (5343) to lead bespoke R&D projects, taking high-value concepts from CAD to assembly. The role is 100% onsite with Mon-Fri hours and Friday early finish, offering a GBP45,000-GBP50,000 salary plus benefits.

You’ll be a SolidWorks expert with mechanical focus and some electrical exposure, mentoring a Graduate Design Engineer and collaborating with Procurement, Production, and Installation to deliver

Qualifications

• SolidWorks expertise with a strong mechanical bias and pneumatics experience.
• Ability to read/design basic wiring diagrams and electrical enclosures alongside mechanical work.
• HNC/HND or a Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering is required.

Responsibilities

• 3D Design & Prototyping using SolidWorks and rapid 3D printing for prototypes.
• Bridge mechanical structures with basic electrical integration (wiring, circuit boards, control enclosures).
• Collaborate daily with Procurement, Production, and Installation to ensure cost-effectiveness and buildability.
• Re-engineer core portfolio machinery while developing bespoke, one-off pharma-related solutions.
• Mentor a Graduate Design Engineer as the business scales.

The Role
You’ll be the central pivot taking high-value machinery concepts from clean-sheet CAD to the assembly shop floor.

• 3D Design & Prototyping:Bring bespoke machinery, sheet metal enclosures, and pneumatic systems to life using SolidWorks, incorporating rapid 3D printing for prototype testing.
• Dual-Discipline Engineering:Bridge the gap between mechanical structures and basic electrical integration (wiring layouts, circuit boards, and control enclosures).
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:Work daily alongside Procurement, Production, and Installation teams to ensure your designs are cost-effective, buildable, and easily serviced.
• R&D & Product Evolution:Re-engineer core portfolio machinery while developing entirely bespoke, one-off solutions for specialized medical and pharma applications.
• Team Leadership:Act as a hands-on mentor to a Graduate Design Engineer, guiding their technical development as the business continues to scale.

What We’re Looking For

• SolidWorks Specialist:Strong mechanical design background (machined parts, sheet metal, pneumatics) with proficient SolidWorks experience (AutoCAD is a bonus).
• Electrical Exposure:Comfortable reading/designing basic wiring diagrams, circuit board positioning, and electrical enclosure layouts alongside your mechanical work.
• Hands-on R&D Mindset:Practical experience or exposure to 3D printing prototyping, multi-departmental manufacturing support, and an HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
