Job summary

CarnaudMetalbox Engineering (CMbE) is seeking a Senior Design Engineer based at our Shipley Head Office to lead design activities for high-performance packaging machinery. You will transform customer specifications into robust technical solutions, manage design risks, and contribute to IP protection across projects.

The role requires a degree in Mechanical Engineering, strong CAD capabilities, and experience coordinating multi-discipline teams through gate reviews.

Qualifications

• Formal technical qualification to degree level in Mechanical Engineering.
• Excellent communication skills to relay technical information to stakeholders.
• Experience leading technical projects and coordinating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Act as project design authority delivering technical solutions.
• Capture project risks and IP protection opportunities; document assumptions and calculations.
• Prepare and present technical reports for gate reviews and plan design activities with the project manager.
• Provide technical support to publications for manuals, build books and SOPs.
• Coordinate with quality to verify incoming inspection requirements; occasional travel.
