Our projects are more than just opportunities to make your mark; they’re a chance to stretch, test, and develop your expertise. Join our Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team as a Senior Design Engineer based out of the Maxim Park office in Motherwell, and be part of our legacy.

The role's purpose is to ensure that the Electrical, Instrumentation & Control design and procurement of specialist packages are created and delivered to meet project requirements.

What you'll be doing

1. Design EC&I solutions in conjunction with manufacturers and consultants.
2. Create and verify EC&I documentation, including specifications, reports, plans, and detailed installation drawings.
3. Review and check vendor documents for EC&I compliance with project specifications.
4. Support the Principal Engineer and contribute to design and construction reviews.
5. Ensure design risks are considered and prepare design risk assessments.
6. Communicate residual design risks to others.
7. Provide strong technical support and identify innovative and robust solutions.
8. Develop and maintain relationships with relevant technical consultants and suppliers, managing their input in the design, development, pricing, and delivery of technical solutions.
9. Maintain personal expertise and knowledge to ensure the business stream remains at the forefront of industry standards and technologies.
10. Mentor and train younger engineers within the team.

2. Effective communication skills at all levels, with clear and succinct writing abilities.
3. Promotion of innovation and continuous improvement in design.
4. Excellent IT Skills, with Microsoft Office proficiency; detailed knowledge of codes of practice and regulatory materials.
