Job summary

ScottishPower SP Energy Networks seeks a Senior Design Engineer (CAD Technician) to deliver civil/structural drawings for substations and modifications on the 132kV network. Hybrid working from Prenton, Merseyside with a strong focus on digital engineering and BIM workflows.

You will lead drafting, QA, and mentoring of junior staff while meeting project deadlines. Essential qualifications include an HNC in Civil Engineering, 7+ years’ experience, and AutoCAD expertise.

Qualifications

• HNC in Civil Engineering or Eng Tech qualification is required.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD with XREFs.
• Experience producing civil and structural drawings with minimum 7 years.
• Understanding of construction methods and civil engineering construction.
• Full UK driving licence and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Produce and maintain civil/structural layouts and general arrangement drawings.
• Prepare concrete reinforcement drawings and schedules.
• Coordinate with civil engineers and other disciplines.
• Review drawings and ensure quality, consistency and accuracy.
• Manage drawing registers, revisions and document control.
• Provide technical guidance to junior CAD Technicians and Designers.
• Support BIM workflows, standards and digital engineering initiatives.
• Contribute to continuous improvement across the design function.
