Job summary

SP Energy Networks, part of the Iberdrola Group, is seeking a Senior Design Engineer (CAD Technician) for the Prenton team. The role focuses on civil/substation drawings, BIM-enabled design, and coordinated civil solutions within the 132kV network. Hybrid working offered in Merseyside.

You will guide junior staff, ensure high-quality outputs, and contribute to continuous improvement in digital engineering practices. 37 hours per week with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Essential civil/structural drafting experience.
• Proven ability to produce high-quality technical drawings.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce civil/structural layouts and GA drawings.
• Prepare concrete reinforcement drawings and schedules.
• Coordinate with civil engineers on integrated designs.
• Review drawings for quality and accuracy.
• Manage drawing registers and document control.
• Mentor junior CAD Technicians and Designers.
• Support BIM workflows and digital design initiatives.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in design.
