Job summary

NICE - National Institute for Health and Care Excellence is recruiting a Senior Delivery Manager in Manchester to oversee a portfolio of digital and technology initiatives. You will lead delivery planning, governance and stakeholder engagement, while line-managing Agile Delivery Managers.

Interviews will be held face to face in our Manchester office. The role involves guiding multi-disciplinary teams, balancing agile and waterfall approaches, and ensuring value-focused outcomes aligned with NICE

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders, teams and external suppliers.
• Provide clear reporting on delivery performance, risks, progress and benefits (e.g., via JIRA).
• Support portfolio governance, ensuring work aligns to NICE strategy and standards.
• Line-manage and mentor Agile Delivery Managers.
• Drive continuous improvement and embed delivery best practices across the organisation.
• Demonstrate strong communication and workshop-design skills with senior stakeholders.

Job description

As a Senior Delivery Manager, you will oversee the successful delivery of a portfolio of complex digital, data and technology initiatives that support NICE’s strategic priorities. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, senior stakeholders and external partners, you will shape, plan and deliver change using the most appropriate delivery approaches, ensuring work is well governed, focused on value and centred on user and organisational outcomes.

You will play a key leadership role across delivery planning, portfolio oversight, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement, while supporting and line-managing Agile Delivery Managers.

What you’ll be expected to do / bring to the role:

• Oversee the end‑to‑end delivery of large or complex digital and technology initiatives, from business case through to live operation, using agile and/or waterfall approaches as appropriate.


• Manage delivery risk, dependencies, resourcing and capacity across multiple workstreams, using data‑driven insights to inform planning and decision‑making.


• Develop collaborative and productive relationships with senior stakeholders, delivery teams and third‑party suppliers, influencing without direct authority.


• Provide clear, accurate and transparent reporting on delivery performance, risks, progress and benefits, using tools such as JIRA and other delivery systems.


• Support effective portfolio and governance practices, ensuring work aligns to NICE strategy, corporate standards and public‑sector best practice.


• Line manage and support Agile Delivery Manager(s), providing leadership, coaching and performance management.


• Support continuous improvement, embedding effective delivery practices, service management principles and lessons learned across the organisation.


• Bring effective communication, facilitation and workshop-design skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders and help resolve complex delivery issues.
