Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a hands-on Senior Delivery Manager to lead client projects or portfolios, oversee multiple engagements, and act as the primary client contact. You will mentor Delivery Managers and junior staff, support recruitment, and help shape teams to accelerate delivery in complex, public-sector programmes.

Working with Product Owners and stakeholders, you will facilitate agile delivery, manage risks and budgets, and drive continuous improvement across projects while championing user

Job description

• Act as a hands-on Senior Delivery Manager for client projects or portfolios


• Support recruitment of permanent and contract Delivery Managers


• Provide line management for Delivery Managers and junior/graduate Delivery Managers


• Support sales, pre-sales and bid processes


• Agree Statements of Work with stakeholders and Methods account teams


• Make recommendations on team shape


• Oversee multiple projects at portfolio level


• Serve as a primary client contact and liaise with client Product Owners/Managers


• Facilitate agile delivery and transformation for multidisciplinary teams


• Help teams plan work, remove blockers and report progress


• Manage and communicate project risks, issues and dependencies


• Upskill clients in agile methodologies


• Support project budget management and budget burn-down


• Ensure delivery against Statements of Work and elevate risks internally


• Coach junior team members in Agile and Lean practices


• Contribute to the cross-Methods delivery management community of practice


• Champion user needs and accessibility


• Help create a safe, welcoming and inclusive team environment

Requirements

• Permanent Senior Delivery Manager role


• Experience delivering user-centred digital services in the public sector


• Experience working in a public sector environment


• Working knowledge of public sector standards and principles, including the GDS Service Standard


• Considerable experience using agile methodologies


• Ability to support junior and mid-level Delivery Managers’ career progression


• Ability to support recruitment of permanent and contract Delivery Managers


• Ability to provide line management


• Ability to support sales/pre-sales and bid processes


• Ability to agree Statements of Work and recommend team shape


• Stakeholder mediation and expectation management skills


• Ability to lead teams through the full product lifecycle
