Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is expanding its defence safety capability across air, land, maritime and broader defence domains. We seek an experienced safety engineer to lead safety engineering assignments, develop safety cases and provide trusted advice to clients and delivery teams.

You will influence decisions, shape proportionate safety solutions and mentor colleagues, while supporting capability development and future work across critical defence programmes.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience delivering safety engineering or safety assurance in defence.
• Experience leading safety cases, safety assessments, hazard-management activities or complex work packages.
• Knowledge of systems engineering and ability to develop proportionate, defensible solutions when information evolves.
• Confident client-facing communication and production of high-quality deliverables.
• Professional experience or progress towards IEng/CEng and membership in relevant institutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and delivery of safety engineering and safety assurance work packages balancing quality, schedule and cost.
• Develop and assure safety cases, safety assessments, hazard logs and safety management arrangements.
• Apply proportionate safety analysis techniques and provide direction to multidisciplinary teams.
• Develop robust safety arguments and evidence strategies for informed decisions.
• Provide clear, pragmatic advice to senior clients, engineering leaders and suppliers.
• Review outputs, share knowledge with colleagues and promote best practice.
• Support business development by understanding client needs and enabling follow-on work.
