Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is expanding its defence safety capability in air, land, maritime, and information systems. You will lead significant safety engineering assignments, shaping proportionate solutions and advising clients and delivery teams to ensure evidence-based decisions.

You will mentor colleagues, drive safety-case development, and advance governance across complex programmes while aligning with industry standards and security requirements.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience delivering safety engineering or safety assurance in a defence environment.
• Experience leading safety cases, safety assessments, hazard-management activities or complex work packages.
• Sound knowledge of systems engineering and how to apply proportionate, defensible solutions when information is evolving.
• Confident client-facing communication, stakeholder management and delivery of high-quality technical outputs.
• A relevant degree, technical qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and delivery of safety engineering and safety assurance work packages considering quality, schedule and cost.
• Develop and assure safety cases, hazard logs and safety management arrangements.
• Apply proportional safety analysis techniques and provide direction to multidisciplinary teams.
• Develop robust safety arguments and evidence strategies for informed decisions.
• Provide clear, pragmatic advice to senior client stakeholders and suppliers.
• Review outputs, share knowledge with colleagues and promote best practice.
• Support future work by identifying client needs and fostering follow-on opportunities.
• Contribute to capability development and digital safety approaches.
