Job summary

Cardiff Council is expanding Cardiff Day Service with a new fifth team to support people with significant behaviours of concern. We are seeking a Senior Day Service Officer to oversee the specialist team within a PBS framework and to champion person-centred practice.

You will lead, coach and train staff, deliver PBM training, supervise performance reviews and contribute to risk management while ensuring high-quality, inclusive services for adults with learning disabilities.

Qualifications

• Experience of leading and managing a social care team.
• Experience of supporting people with complex needs and behaviours of concern.
• A good understanding of person-centred practice and Positive Behaviour Support.
• Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
• A commitment to staff development and positive practice.
• Flexibility, resilience and the ability to work in a dynamic environment.
• A belief that people with learning disabilities should have the opportunity to achieve their full potential and play an active role in their communities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee a designated area of the Day Service.
• Support the development of the new specialist team.
• Promote and embed Positive Behaviour Support approaches.
• Deliver behavioural guidance, coaching and support to staff.
• Undertake PBM trainer training and deliver training to colleagues.
• Monitor and review services to ensure agreed outcomes are achieved.
• Supervise staff and contribute to the Personal Performance and Development Review process.
• Undertake risk assessments and contribute to service risk management.
• Support the day-to-day operation of the Day Service.
