Job summary

Harrow Council is seeking a Senior Day Services Officer to join the Adults and Public Health team. The post holder will stabilise and influence the local management team, act as a role model of good practice, and lead Hub staff to perform at their best.

The role focuses on enabling access to day service centre based and community opportunities with empowerment for independent living. You will supervise staff, support change, promote safety, dignity and anti-discrimination, and help individuals

Qualifications

• Ability to move and handle people in a supportive care setting.
• Knowledge of current social care legislation.
• Experience working with learners with disabilities or physical disabilities.
• Experience dealing with challenging behaviour.
• Strong verbal communication and written English skills.
• Experience supervising, mentoring, and leading staff.
• Flexibility to meet changing service needs.
• Experience managing staff through significant change.

The Adults and Public Health Directorate is looking for a Senior Day Services Officer to act as a member of the local management team stabilising and influencing, acting as an effective role model of practice. Tasks include supporting, encouraging and assisting in leading the Hub staff teams to function to the best of their capabilities. The post holder will enable people to access excellent day service centre based and community opportunities, including the world of work wherever possible and to offer choice and empower people to live as independently as possible. Responsibilities include supporting and assisting individuals to participate in safe personal care/hygiene needs as required, respecting the privacy and dignity of people at all times and ensuring that services are delivered in an anti-discriminatory manner with respect to the protected characteristics.

About You

• Ability to move and handle people.
• Knowledge of current relevant social care legislation.
• Previous experience working in a Learning/Physical Disability setting.
• Experience of working with challenging behaviour.
• Strong verbal communication and a good standard of written English.
• Supervisory, mentoring and leadership skills.
