Job summary

Skipton is seeking a Senior Database Engineer to design, deploy and evolve high-availability database platforms across our technology estate. You will mentor engineers, drive automation, and establish best practices to ensure data services are secure, scalable and resilient.

You will join the Platform Technology team, collaborating with architecture and delivery teams to shape our data capabilities while maintaining governance and cost efficiency. Hybrid working applies.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience administering enterprise database platforms (SQL Server, Azure SQL).
• Strong knowledge of high availability, performance tuning and disaster recovery.
• Experience with automation of DB tasks using PowerShell, Python or SQL scripting.

Responsibilities

• Designing, deploying and evolving highly available, secure and scalable database platforms.
• Shaping database architecture, standards and engineering practices.
• Leading improvements in database automation, IaC, deployment pipelines and tooling.
• Driving platform reliability through monitoring, capacity management and resilience testing.
• Investigating and resolving complex database incidents with root-cause analysis.
