Job summary

HM Revenue & Customs in Scotland is seeking a Senior Data & Trials Analyst to apply behavioural insights and data-driven evidence to enhance tax compliance and customer experience. You will design field trials, analyse quantitative data, and influence stakeholders across policy, compliance, and operations.

Your role includes leading evaluations of behavioural interventions, running RCTs, and communicating findings to senior leaders.

Qualifications

• A degree in an analytical discipline (minimum of a 2:1 undergraduate degree or a post-graduate degree), and/or significant relevant work experience.
• Experience designing and running research trials and evaluations.
• Strong record of using statistical analysis techniques including inferential analyses.
• Experience with behavioural insights theory and applying it to real-world problems.
• Ability to interpret and manipulate data and code in R.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead evaluations of behavioural interventions and field trials.
• Run randomised controlled trials (RCTs) and analyse experimental data.
• Develop robust evaluation frameworks and inform stakeholders.
• Communicate findings clearly to policy, compliance, and operations teams.
• Build and maintain stakeholder relationships internally and externally.
