Job summary

Hoare Lea is seeking a Data Scientist or Senior Data Scientist to join its multi-disciplinary data team in the UK. The role focuses on applying data and analytics to support decision-making across engineering projects and building data-driven solutions with Python, SQL and ML techniques.

You will work across the lifecycle from understanding needs to delivering client-ready insights and tools, with scope for forecasting, modelling and AI-enabled solutions. Flexible, hybrid working is available.

Qualifications

• Experience applying data and analysis to real-world engineering or operational problems.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills with ability to define analytical approach.
• Ability to work independently and own deliverables.
• Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, analysis and data science.
• Proficiency in SQL and software engineering best practices (version control, testing).
• Experience with data visualization frameworks and communicating findings.
• Familiarity with ML/AI, including generative AI, to add value.

Responsibilities

• Understand stakeholder needs and translate questions into analytical problems.
• Develop and implement data-driven solutions across the company.
• Use SQL, Python and other tools to investigate data and generate insights.
• Apply statistical techniques, forecasting and ML/AI where appropriate.
• Collaborate with product and software teams to build reusable data products.
• Develop reproducible analytical code with version control and testing.
• Share approaches and best practices to raise analytical standards.
