Job summary

Hoare Lea is seeking a Data Analyst/Scientist or Senior Data Analyst/Scientist to generate insight from data and improve engineering services across the UK. You will work with engineers, consultants and product teams to translate needs into analytical projects, applying ML/AI where appropriate.

The role covers the full lifecycle from exploring data to delivering client-ready insights and dashboards, with opportunities to influence decisions on building energy forecasting and performance

Qualifications

• Experience applying data and analysis to real-world problems in engineering or similar domains.
• Ability to translate ambiguous questions into well-defined analytical problems.
• Proficient in Python for data manipulation, analysis, and modelling.
• Proficient in SQL and data querying; experienced with version control and testing.
• Strong visualization skills using PowerBI or Streamlit; understanding of ML/AI concepts.

Responsibilities

• Understand stakeholder needs and translate questions into analytical problems.
• Develop data-driven solutions to address business challenges across the company.
• Use SQL, Python, and other tools to explore data, test hypotheses, and derive insights.
• Apply forecasting, ML/AI methods where beneficial and produce client-ready insights.
• Collaborate with product and software teams to build reusable data tools and workflows.
• Create reproducible analytics code with testing and peer review processes.
• Share approaches and best practices to raise analytical standards across the team.
