Job summary

Wayve is seeking a data scientist to partner with AI engineers and multiple teams, producing actionable insights that improve the Wayve AI Driver. You’ll analyze real and simulated driving to advance performance, safety, and functionality of autonomous mobility systems.

You will design experiments, define performance metrics, and investigate factors influencing model training and inference to unlock improvements. The role is based in London with a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience in a Data Science role.
• Fluent in querying and building large datasets; writing production-level SQL for data pipelines.
• Designing robust experiments (e.g. A/B) and evaluating test statistics.
• Foundations in statistics: distributions and assumptions for frequentist stats.
• Proficient in Python (pandas, sklearn, statsmodels, scipy) or R (dplyr, caret, stats).
• Ability to summarize, visualize, and communicate findings clearly.
• Track record of influencing team direction with your findings.
• Bias towards deriving actionable insights for prioritization and strategy.
• Comfortable working asynchronously across time zones with cross-functional partners.
• Curiosity about building new things and defining AV2.0 approaches.

Responsibilities

• Formulate and iterate performance metrics guiding engineering progress and commercial success.
• Design experiments and off-road measurements to ensure product requirements meet safety and performance goals.
• Investigate training and inference bottlenecks; validate hypotheses for improvements.
