Job summary

Metrea seeks an innovative Data Scientist to deliver ML for signal processing across our Decision Science Laboratory and automated Solution Engine. You will deploy operational ML techniques for signal processing, time-frequency analysis, and parameter estimation, with waveform generation exposure valued.

The ideal candidate has a post-doctoral background or a Master’s with substantial experience in quantitative fields, and a passion for applying advanced analytics to defence challenges.

Qualifications

• Post-doctoral degree in a quantitative field or equivalent with a Masters degree.
• Proficiency in Python and MATLAB with ML libraries.
• Strong knowledge of Machine Learning and AI techniques.
• Experience deploying operational signal processing systems.
• Familiarity with MLOps and cloud platforms; Azure preferred.
• Excellent communication and teaching skills; able to explain complex concepts.
• Prior Defence or Aerospace experience preferred but not essential.
• Collaborative mindset in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Responsibilities

• Translate operational requirements into technical solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Apply and adapt state-of-the-art data science techniques to signal processing tasks and liaise with hardware/aerial designers.
• Conduct ML experiments and deploy selected approaches into operations.
• Mentor and manage junior team members and foster a collaborative culture.
• Contribute to data science best practices and shared resources.
• Pursue continuous learning and stay updated on data science and defence-related developments.
