Job summary

Metrea seeks a highly skilled data science and ML expert to apply advanced analytical techniques to electromagnetic challenges. You will work within the Decision Science Laboratory to design, test, and deploy ML-enabled capabilities for real-world defence problems.

You will collaborate across engineering, RF, and operations, turning ambiguous requirements into robust technical solutions and driving implementations from research to deployment in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Post-doctoral degree in a quantitative field or equivalent experience with a Master’s.
• Familiarity with CNNs, Transformers, autoencoders, self-supervised learning, probabilistic modelling, or simulation-driven learning.
• Strong Python programming and data-analysis skills.
• Experience applying data science or ML to electromagnetic or related problem sets.
• Ability to design rigorous experiments and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
• Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborative mindset in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment.
• Eligible to hold UK security clearance (SC).
• Right to live and work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Translate operational requirements into technical solutions with cross-functional teams.
• Apply ML, data science, and RF-aware analytics to electromagnetic problems.
• Explore modern approaches for electromagnetic sensing and exploitation (CNNs, Transformers, graphs, probabilistic methods).
• Design and conduct experiments to evaluate algorithms and approaches.
• Develop proof-of-concept capabilities and support deployment into operations.
• Liaise with forward-deployed teammates on constraints, data, and deployment considerations.
• Build reliable analytics workflows using MLOps and cloud-based practices.
• Communicate complex concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Mentor junior team members and foster a rigorous, collaborative environment.
