ICIS, part of RELX Group, is hiring a Senior Data Scientist/Quantitative Analyst for global trade, shipping and logistics. Based in Karlsruhe or London, you will build predictive models, work with data from shipping and trade, and deliver analytics for traders and decision-makers.

You will join a team of data scientists in a fast-moving analytics hub, shaping AI-powered solutions for commodity markets and logistics, with production-ready code and close customer collaboration.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of practical experience in predictive modelling in commodity markets or trading.
• Ability to work directly with customers to identify and solve high-value problems.
• Production-ready Python and SQL code; familiar with DS libraries.
• Data modelling, transformation, and visualization (e.g., Python Dash).
• Experience with Docker and orchestration tools (Airflow).
• Curiosity and desire to understand the world.
• Nice to have: knowledge of chemical industry, Databricks and Snowflake.
• Familiarity with optimisation libraries (Pyomo, SciPy, Gurobi/CPLEX).

Responsabilités

• Create and continuously improve analytical commodity market models in Python with analysts and engineers.
• Connect, clean, and impute freight, pricing and supply/demand datasets from diverse sources.
• Create interactive analytics and decision-support tools using data visualization.
• Discuss models with customers and translate domain knowledge back into models.
• Work with data engineers to productionize models and integrate new data sources.
• Self-organised with project management responsibility from day 1.
• Share components and innovations with peers.
