Job summary

Spotify is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join the Data Platform team in London. You’ll help build and maintain data infrastructure that supports personalized experiences and scalable analytics for a global user base.

You should be proficient in Java backend development, SQL with BigQuery, and JVM-based data processing frameworks, with strong DevOps principles and cloud experience. Hybrid work is available in London.

Qualifications

• Experienced Data Engineer with Java backend skills.
• Proficient with SQL and BigQuery.
• Experience with JVM data frameworks (Flink, Beam, Dataflow, Spark).
• Familiar with cloud infrastructure, DevOps, containers and Kubernetes.
• Data modeling and schema design experience.
• Strong emphasis on clean code, CI/CD and automated testing.
• Comfort with ambiguity and data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product and engineering to build data infrastructure.
• Build systems that collect and process user behaviour data at scale.
• Support personalization and recommendations systems.
• Design and evolve data architectures for high data volumes.
• Improve reliability, scalability, and usability of data infrastructure.
• Work across disciplines to solve complex data challenges.
