Job summary

Spotify is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Subscriptions Mission in London or Stockholm. You will architect, develop and operate Java services that enable cohesive conversion and upsell journeys across our merchandising platform, collaborating with R&D, Marketing and Growth to deliver scalable backend systems on Google Cloud Platform.

You bring 5+ years of backend experience with Java, and hands-on experience with gRPC, GCP, BigQuery and Bigtable.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer building Java services at scale.
• Strong computer science fundamentals and ability to design scalable backend systems.
• Experience designing, implementing and scaling cloud-native components in GCP/AWS or similar.
• Experience building APIs and collaborating with stakeholders to meet requirements.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop and operate Java services powering conversion and upsell journeys.
• Collaborate with squads and internal partners to design scalable backend systems, data models and APIs on Google Cloud Platform.
• Be a technical leader, mentor and contributor in an autonomous cross-functional squad.
• Collaborate with other squads, engineering managers and product managers to scale automation and platform capabilities.
