Job summary

Tesco Technology is hiring a core engineer to own the data and intelligence layer that connects supply chain forecasting outputs to users and systems. The role spans data engineering, applied ML, and developer infrastructure, with ownership across end-to-end problems.

Work is varied: design a data API, improve retrieval quality in a RAG pipeline, and productionise services with infrastructure support. You will shape the evolution of the platform and impact thousands of stores.

Qualifications

• Ownership mindset: fix what is broken or missing without waiting to be asked.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and lack of clear specs; navigate independently.
• Readable, tested code with appropriate complexity where needed.
• Experience on backend services and data systems in production.
• Willingness to learn new tech quickly, including LLMS and retrieval systems.

Responsibilities

• Data platform: high-performance service linking data sources behind a typed API.
• Intelligence layer: expose demand signals, predictions, and recommendations via APIs.
• LLM integration: tool-calling, prompt architecture, and streaming pipelines.
