Job summary

Preply Inc. in London is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the data ingestion and enrichment team. You will own the data lake, design scalable batch and streaming pipelines, and ensure data quality, governance, and observability across analytics, ML, and product.

Collaboration with ML Platform, Analytics, and Product squads is key to delivering production‑grade data assets. You will build standardized ingestion templates and drive cross‑team ownership of data quality, with a focus on

Qualifications

• Experience building patterns for large, high‑scale applications.
• Led platform or data engineering deliveries with multiple stakeholders.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP) and modern DevOps practices.
• Hands‑on with real‑time and batch data processing using Spark, Flink, Kafka, Debezium.
• Expertise with orchestration tools such as Airflow or dbt.
• Strong problem solving and proactive improvement mindset.
• Excellent cross‑functional communication in English (B2+).

Responsibilities

• Design and own the data layer powering analytics, ML, and product.
• Build and operate trusted ingestion pipelines (batch and streaming).
• Implement data contracts, validation, and quality checks early in ingestion.
• Develop enrichment, modeling, and lifecycle management across domains.
• Ensure observability, reliability, and governance of ingestion platforms.
• Enable self‑service and standardisation with reusable templates and tooling.
• Collaborate with Product, Backend, Analytics, and ML teams on data requirements.
