Job summary

NewDay is seeking a Senior Data Engineer in London to lead the design, build and evolution of core data pipelines powering analytics, reporting and advanced data science. You will own ingestion/transformation pipelines, optimize the Data Lake, and drive automation while mentoring engineers and shaping engineering standards.

The role requires hands-on DBT, Python and SQL experience, plus expertise in data modelling, ETL/ELT and scalable pipelines.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience using DBT to design, build and improve data transformations within a complex data environment.
Engineering experience using Python and SQL, with the ability to solve complex data problems at scale.
Knowledge of data modelling, ETL/ELT, data warehousing and scalable data pipelines.
Experience leading and developing Data Engineers, combining hands-on work with coaching and delivery ownership.
Interest in AI and automation to improve engineering quality and productivity.

Responsibilities

Lead design and evolution of core pipelines and platforms powering analytics and data science across the business.
Own ingestion/ transformation pipelines and automate BAU to reduce manual effort.
Guide Agile delivery, mentor engineers, and ensure cloud-native data solutions are shipped via CI/CD.
Influence data engineering standards, patterns, and governance across the organisation.
