Job summary

SF Partners is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to advance our Microsoft Fabric data platform in Lancashire. You will build pipelines, models and notebooks that power reporting and day-to-day operations.

You will blend hands-on engineering with guiding others on best practices, helping the business move toward a scalable, reliable data solution while owning end-to-end delivery.

Qualifications

• Practical Microsoft Fabric experience, including pipelines and data storage/transformation.
• Strong SQL, Python and data modelling skills, understanding lakehouse/warehouse approaches, and data prep for Power BI.
• Ability to own decisions and share knowledge; sector experience not required.

Senior Data Engineer - Microsoft Fabric

£70,000-£80,000 Lancashire One day per week in the office

You've built with Microsoft Fabric. Now you want the room to make decisions, solve problems and take ownership of how a platform develops.

This role gives you that scope. Fabric is already in place, with foundations to build on and plenty to improve. You'll help move the business towards a more consistent, scalable approach to data engineering, creating pipelines and models that support reporting, analytics and day-to-day operations.

Working alongside BI, analytics and software development colleagues, you'll combine hands-on engineering with helping others get more from the platform.

What you’ll get stuck into

• Building and improving Fabric pipelines and notebooks.
• Creating reusable data models and reliable ingestion processes across APIs and databases.
• Using SQL and Python to automate processing and reduce manual work.
• Structuring and optimising data for Power BI.
• Improving data quality and establishing engineering practices colleagues can build on.

You’ll have a say in how things are designed and the responsibility to see them through. It's a good fit if you enjoy understanding the business problem as much as building the technical solution.

What you’ll need

• Practical Microsoft Fabric experience is essential, including building pipelines and working with data storage and transformation.
• You’ll also bring strong SQL, Python and data modelling skills, an understanding of lakehouse and warehouse approaches, and experience preparing data for Power BI.
• You should be comfortable taking ownership, explaining your decisions and sharing your knowledge with colleagues. Previous sector experience isn't essential.

The practical details

£70,000-£80,000, one office day per week in Lancashire, flexible working hours and a 36.25-hour working week, alongside healthcare benefits.
