A leading specialist insurance business is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join its established Data Engineering function as it expands its presence in London.
This is an opportunity to take a senior technical role in a business with a significant investment in its data platform. With Microsoft Fabric selected, budget approved & implementation planned for 2027, you will work closely with the Lead Data Engineer to help deliver the modernisation whilst continuing to develop & support the existing SQL Server & SSIS environment.
The business is looking for someone who combines strong SQL & data warehouse engineering experience with an understanding of modern data platforms, ideally having already contributed to a Microsoft Fabric implementation.
Develop, maintain & optimise data warehouse solutions using SQL Server & advanced T SQL.
Play a key role in the planned implementation of Microsoft Fabric, helping transition existing data workloads towards the new platform.
Support the existing Microsoft BI environment alongside the modernisation programme.
Apply dimensional modelling & data warehousing principles to support reliable, scalable data solutions.
Work closely with the Lead Data Engineer, contributing technical ideas, challenging existing approaches & helping shape engineering decisions.
Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to understand requirements & deliver data solutions.
Deliver engineering work within an Agile environment, contributing to the development of the London Data Engineering team.
Strong commercial experience with Microsoft SQL Server, advanced T SQL & stored procedure development.
Hands on experience developing, maintaining & debugging SSIS ETL pipelines.
Strong understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modelling & Microsoft BI technologies.
Exposure to Microsoft Fabric or similar modern Azure data platforms, with previous hands on Fabric implementation experience particularly desirable.
Ability to take technical ownership, contribute ideas & work closely with other engineers on technical decisions.
Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
Experience with SSAS, SSRS, Azure Data Factory or Azure DevOps would be beneficial.
Insurance or financial services experience would be advantageous, although candidates from other industries with relevant technical experience are equally encouraged to apply.
This is an opportunity to join a growing London Data Engineering function at an important stage of its development.
Unlike organisations still considering their future data strategy, this business has already secured approval & investment for its Microsoft Fabric implementation in 2027.
You will have a genuine opportunity to contribute to the delivery of that programme, working across both established SQL Server technologies & the next generation of the data platform.
The position offers significant technical responsibility, close involvement in engineering decisions & the opportunity to help shape a growing team.
