Job Description:

Role: Data Center Engineer

We are recruiting Engineers to work within a team supporting cabling infrastructure and network hardware at client sites. Responsibilities include patching, break-fix, circuit provisioning and recovery, disconnecting/reconnecting desktop and networking equipment, rack and stack of Data Centre Hardware (servers, network, storage), and providing connectivity to Data Centre hardware. Availability for out-of-hours work, including weekends and evenings, as part of an on-call rota, is required.

Key tasks include:

1. Auditing and documenting existing cabling installations.
2. Auditing and documenting desktop configurations, including patching and power, for current and future user locations.
3. Using Cable Management Software for patching planning.
4. Carrying out data wiping activities using software tools.
5. Performing patching/jumpering of voice & data, copper & fibre cables.
6. Testing and fault finding on Copper and Fibre Cabling Infrastructure, including ISDN Line Tests, using modern testers.
7. Terminating Copper Voice and Data cables per cabling system standards.
8. Conducting surveys and updating drawings and schedules.
9. Installing and testing analogue, digital, and VOIP telephone handsets, and providing headset support.
10. Building, Racking, and Stacking Network and Server hardware in Data Centres, and establishing connectivity.
11. Performing hardware break-fix activities, such as replacing power supplies, modules, and fans.
12. Experience in Voice and Data Cabling environments.
13. Understanding of modern computer network infrastructure.
14. Practical experience with fibre and copper voice/data cabling, including terminating, testing, and standards.
15. Knowledge of Rack and Stack of Server Hardware and Systems.
16. Proficiency with ServiceNow and other Asset Management tools.
17. Knowledge of Server Patching.
18. Ability to use various modern cable testers.
