Job summary

The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation enabling evidence-based health decisions through data. We seek an experienced analytics professional to lead projects, develop dashboards and AI-enabled solutions, and translate complex data into actionable insights for stakeholders.

You will mentor team members, manage analytics work from concept to delivery, and help drive impact across the organisation in a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

Where in Wellcome will I be working?

You will join the Data & Digital team, working closely with stakeholders across Wellcome to unlock the value of data and enable evidence-based decision making. The team delivers analytical products, insights, dashboards, models and AI-enabled solutions that support strategic priorities across the organisation. Working in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment, you will help drive innovation, improve data fluency and ensure colleagues have access to high-quality data and insights.

What will I be doing?

• Lead projects within workstreams and/or pieces of work within products.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor other members of the team, driving innovation, learning and improvement.
• Develop dashboards, models, datasets and AI-enabled analytical solutions that drive organisational value.
• Work with key stakeholders and product/project teams to define requirements, then use qualitative and/or quantitative analysis skills to: Build easy to use data products (analysis, models, AI-enabled solutions, dashboards, datasets, infrastructure) clearly communicate work and deliver robust insights and recommendation.

We’re looking for an experienced analytical professional who is passionate about using data to solve complex problems and influence decision making. You will have strong technical and project management skills, with experience taking analytical work from concept through to delivery. You’ll be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders, translating business requirements into effective analytical solutions, and communicating findings in a clear and engaging way. You will bring expertise across data analysis, visualisation, modelling and programming, alongside experience of emerging technologies and AI-enabled tools. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical excellence with stakeholder engagement, leadership and continuous improvement.

Minimum Criteria

• Significant experience in analytics, working with large and complex datasets and using a range of analytical and AI technologies, such as SQL, Python, Tableau, R, Excel, GitHub Copilot or equivalent, to generate actionable insights.
• Strong data acumen, with a deep understanding of data structures, business data models, data quality, governance and interpretation, and the ability to translate data into meaningful business context.
• Proven project management skills, delivering analytical projects across the full lifecycle, from problem definition and data acquisition through to insight generation, implementation and benefits realisation, while effectively managing stakeholders and priorities.
• Excellent communication and data storytelling skills, with the ability to present complex findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, influence decision-making and improve data literacy across the organisation.
• Demonstrated ability to use data and analytics to drive impact, influence decision making and identify opportunities to improve organisational performance.
