Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Info Security, or related field; master’s preferred.
• 8+ years of cybersecurity, with focus on security architecture.
• Experience designing/implementing security across Windows, Linux, cloud.
• Deep knowledge of networking, cryptography, IAM, and security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001).
• Cloud security architecture experience (AWS, Azure, GCP) and microservices security.
• Familiarity with WAFs, IDS/IPS, SIEM, EDR, vulnerability management.
• Certs such as CISSP, CCSP, SABSA valued.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement secure, scalable cybersecurity architectures for on-prem, cloud, and hybrid.

Our client, a leading financial technology firm located in Randburg, Gauteng , is seeking a highly experienced Senior Cybersecurity Architect. This critical role involves designing, implementing, and managing robust cybersecurity architectures that protect the company's complex IT infrastructure and sensitive client data. You will play a key part in defining the organization's security vision and strategy, ensuring it aligns with business objectives and industry best practices. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in security design, threat modeling, and risk assessment, with a proven ability to translate complex security requirements into actionable architectural plans. This is an on-site position, fostering close collaboration with development, infrastructure, and security operations teams in our Randburg headquarters.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement secure, scalable, and resilient cybersecurity architectures for on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
• Develop and maintain security blueprints, standards, and guidelines.
• Conduct threat modeling and risk assessments for new and existing systems and applications.
• Evaluate and recommend new security technologies and solutions to enhance the organization's security posture.
• Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure security is integrated throughout the system development lifecycle.
• Provide expert guidance on security best practices and architectural decisions.
• Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and documentation.
• Lead security reviews and provide technical leadership to the security and IT teams.
• Stay abreast of emerging cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies.
• Contribute to incident response planning and execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field; Master’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a significant focus on security architecture.
• Proven experience designing and implementing complex security solutions across various platforms (Windows, Linux, cloud).
• In-depth knowledge of networking protocols, cryptography, authentication, authorization, and security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
• Experience with cloud security architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP) and microservices security.
• Familiarity with security tools such as WAFs, IDS/IPS, SIEM, EDR, and vulnerability management systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor junior staff.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or SABSA are highly valued.
