What will this role achieve?

The UK&I has ambitious plans; Customer Finance acts as a hardworking and strong business partner helping the customer team build robust external relationships, improve internal value creation, and leverage enhanced understanding of consumer and trade dynamics to create effective strategies. You will drive the routines necessary to understand performance, deliver insightful financial analysis, provide rigorous financial control, and enhance processes to optimize customer investment decisions.

The role holder will report to the Customer Finance Director and will have sole responsibility for partnering with the customer team for the key Asda and Sainsbury's accounts, while also working on ad hoc projects across the wider Customer team.

What will be your key deliverables?
  • Develop a strong business partnering culture with the account team, providing encouraging challenge and valuable insight while ensuring ongoing continual improvement.
  • Work with the Customer team to drive better understanding of the drivers of performance (including trends, channel/customer profitability, and understanding of external retailer landscape and dynamics) and develop gap fill opportunities.
  • Manage a regular rhythm of business performance diagnostics, the annual & strategic planning process, and the Monthly Performance Review (MPR) process.
  • Support customer discussions by preparing joint business plan evaluations with a more-for-more mentality to improve investments and model customer P&Ls.
  • Influence and drive the agenda ensuring that the customer teams make well-informed and timely choices.
  • Partner with the CF Director on total third-party business reporting.
  • Work on key business process improvement initiatives.
  • Manage & control terms/pricing investments, tracking delivery & P&L management of accruals.
  • Implement pre & post evaluation of TI investments to optimize returns.
  • Manage unsolicited deductions working with Genpact and account teams.
Bring your experience
  • Proven experience in FMCG in Customer/Commercial Finance.
  • A passion for business performance management & analytics.
  • A strong collaborator and communicator.
  • Ability to influence and work collaboratively across the organization.
  • Ability to work effectively in an ambiguous and changing environment and drive the agenda forward.
  • Self-confidence and skills to challenge the Customer team and senior leadership.
  • Strong financial and commercial competence built over a minimum of 5 years.
  • Advanced MS Excel, PowerPoint, and the ability to turn raw data into insights.
  • A qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA).

Compensation
  • £50,000 - £60,000 per annum + Discretionary annual bonus
