University Hospitals of Leicester hosts a substantive consultant post for the Adult Critical Care Co-ordination and Transfer service. The role focuses on triaging referrals, coordinating transfers, supervising clinical care and leading governance for the transfer team.

The post requires Full GMC registration and a Specialist register entry in Intensive Care Medicine or Anaesthesia, with extensive ICU experience and leadership capabilities to drive service quality and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
• Specialist register entry in Intensive Care Medicine or Anaesthesia.
• Experience as NHS consultant or equivalent in ICU.
• Extensive experience independently assessing, resuscitating and treating critically ill adults.
• Ability to lead a multidisciplinary transfer team and liaise with governance.

Responsabilités

• Triage, co-ordination and decision support for referrals to ACCOTS.
• Receive referrals, give clinical and logistical advice and allocate transfer resources.
• Task clinical transfer teams and provide leadership to the team.
• Develop and implement treatment plans with the transfer team.
• Ensure safe, timely transfer of critically ill patients within the region.
• Follow SOPs for referral handling, deployment and pathways.
• Maintain high quality clinical records and governance documentation.
• Support induction and development of team members and training days.
• Maintain competency in adult critical care delivery.
