Job summary

Edelman Smithfield London is seeking an Associate Director with strong litigation communications, legal affairs and crisis expertise to join the UK Crisis & Risk team. This senior client-facing role works across high-profile matters, advising executives and legal teams while translating complex issues into clear communications.

You will manage client relationships, develop messaging, briefs and holding statements, collaborate with lawyers and Edelman colleagues, and mentor junior staff,

• Experience in litigation communications and crisis response.
• Ability to advise senior stakeholders under pressure.
• Strong judgement balancing legal risk and reputational risk.

Responsibilities

• Provide litigation communications and legal affairs counsel to clients facing complex reputational challenges.
• Advise on communications strategy around litigation and investigations.
• Develop client materials, risk assessments, and holding statements.
• Lead day-to-day client relationships across Crisis & Risk accounts.
• Collaborate with lawyers, Edelman colleagues and partners to support legal strategy without increasing reputational exposure.
• Contribute to live crisis response with rapid counsel and messaging across markets.
• Coach junior colleagues and contribute to a collaborative team culture.
